A large SUV of the Japanese brand received a hybrid installation, the units of which in total give out 443 horsepower.
Toyota introduced the third-generation Sequoia large SUV. The model received a new platform, and for the first time acquired a hybrid power plant.
The third Toyota Sequoia is based on the TNGA-F modular architecture, on the basis of which the Toyota Land Cruiser 300, Lexus LX SUVs and the new generation Toyota Tundra pickup have already been created. From the latter, Sequoia borrowed the main design solutions, including front optics with T-shaped diode elements and a massive hexagonal radiator grille with a honeycomb pattern.
The interior of the SUV is also made in the style of the Tundra model, where a 12.3-inch customizable virtual dashboard and a large 14-inch touchscreen display of the media system appeared. The cloud-based navigation infotainment system supports voice control. To activate the function, you need to say “Hey Toyota”.
The list of available electronic “assistants” includes active cruise control, adaptive suspension, all-round cameras, a collision avoidance system with recognition of pedestrians and cyclists, the function of keeping the car in the occupied lane, and other modern systems.
As for the power unit, the 386-horsepower 5.7-liter G8 has been replaced by a completely new i-Force hybrid unit. It consists of a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 gasoline and an electric motor installed between the internal combustion engine and a 10-speed automatic transmission. In total, the units develop 443 hp. and 790 Nm of torque.
The new Toyota Sequoia will be the Japanese brand’s flagship SUV in the United States, where it will take the place of the defunct Land Cruiser. Sales of the vehicles, which will be produced at the facility in San Antonio, Texas, will begin in the second half of 2022. Prices for the novelty will be announced later.
