Renault has unveiled the new crossover Austral. In the model range of the French brand, this car will replace the current Kadjar. European sales of new items will start in the fourth quarter of this year. The production of the machine will be established at a plant in Spain.

The novelty was built on the third generation CMF-CD platform, on which the current generation Nissan Qashqai was also created. The car is 4510 mm long, 1618 mm high and 1825 mm wide. Renault Austral borrowed a number of design solutions from the most advanced model of the French brand – the Megane E-Tech Electric electric crossover.

The crossover received several hybrid modifications at once. The basic version of the car was equipped with a 1.2-liter turbo engine with a 48-volt starter-generator and a manual gearbox. The power of this modification is 130 horsepower. Austral will also be available with a 1.3-liter turbo engine and a starter-generator. The power of such an installation is 140 or 160 horsepower.

The top version was equipped with a 1.2-liter engine, a starter-generator and an electric motor. Power – 200 horsepower.

The interior of the car was finished with plastic, Alcantara, leather and veneer. The crossover was equipped with a digital instrument panel and a large screen multimedia system. The volume of the luggage compartment for “soft” hybrids is 500 liters, while for the E-Tech full hybrid – 430 liters.

Four driving modes are available to the driver – Eco, Comfort, Sport and individual Perso. For an additional fee, you can purchase a package that will add two off-road presets – Snow and All Roads.
