In early February of the twenty-first year, the premiere of the new fifth-generation Nissan Pathfinder 5 took place. Compared to its predecessor, the crossover has received a more strict exterior design, in which instead of smooth contours of the sidewalls, straightened lines now prevail.
The model has got an enlarged grille and full LED headlights. For the first time, a two-tone body paint has become available for a car; wheels of 18 or 20 inches are offered to buyers as discs.
In the cabin of the new 2021 Nissan Pathfinder, the base is equipped with a 7.0-inch virtual instrument cluster display and an 8.0-inch entertainment system screen. In more expensive trim levels, the tidy has a 12.3 ″ monitor, while multimedia relies on a 9.0 ″ tablet. Plus, in the list of equipment of the top version, there is a head-up display with a diagonal of 10.8 ″.
From now on, the central tunnel in the car was made two-story with a large shelf on the lower tier. Additionally, the contour lighting of the interior, ventilation of the front seats, heating of the second row and three-zone climate control are designed to please passengers.
By default, the 2021 Nissan Pathfinder in a new body is offered in an eight-seater version: three-seater sofas are installed in the second and third rows. At the same time, for a surcharge for the model, for the first time, you can order separate seats for the middle row, that is, the car will become seven-seater.
Together with the captain’s seats, there is an easily removable center console, on which cup holders and containers for small things are provided. At the same time, using the “Ez-Flex” system, the second row seats can be folded in just one movement, thereby providing easy access to the gallery.
Specialists of the Japanese brand note that they have worked hard on soundproofing the interior of the crossover. Specifically, the new 2021 Nissan Pathfinder received a windshield with an extra layer, as well as thicker side windows. In turn, 60% more insulation materials were used in the engine compartment.
The SUV is built on the former D platform with a transverse engine. MacPherson struts are installed in the front, and a multi-link is used in the back. The length of the crossover in the new body has decreased to 5,004 mm (-38), although the wheelbase has not changed at the same time, 2,900 mm.
The width and height of the car have grown slightly and are now equal to 1,979 and 1,778 mm, respectively. According to the American SAE standard, the default boot volume is 470 liters (+ 21). With the gallery seats folded down, the compartment increases to 1,274 liters (-68).
The new 2021 Nissan Pathfinder body retains the previous 3.5-liter V6 petrol engine that produces 288 hp. and 351 Nm. The unit works in tandem with a nine-speed automatic transmission. In the US market, the crossover is offered as standard front-wheel drive, while all-wheel drive with a hydraulic clutch in the rear axle is offered as an option.
The all-wheel drive transmission itself has seven operating modes (Standard, Sport, Eco, Snow, Sand, Mud and Tow), which can be switched between using the washer on the central tunnel. By the way, in the “Tow” towing preset, the off-road vehicle is capable of “pulling” a trailer weighing up to 2,721.5 kg. The manufacturer calls this indicator the best in the class.
The list of standard equipment of the model includes a proprietary complex “SafetyShield 360”. It includes ten airbags, lane tracking systems, and automatic braking and high-beam control functions. The more expensive versions additionally have adaptive cruise control ProPilot with the function of keeping the car in the lane.
In addition, the car can be ordered with a central airbag, which is located between the front seats and is designed to protect riders from hitting each other in the event of an accident.
